RCPL Inter-departmental Kaizen and 5S Competition Awards – May 2024

Since its inception in September 2019, RCPL’s monthly Inter-departmental Kaizen Competition has promoted a culture of continuous improvement. The May 2024 awards ceremony was held on June 17 at the RCPL Factory, Arugampalayam, recognizing 406 Kaizens submitted across departments, surpassing the target of 304.

Awards were given for outstanding contributions in the areas of Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Human Morale:

Productivity: Enhanced daily fitting cover output from 891 to 1080 units.
Quality: Resolved customer complaints by modifying clamping pads in leak testing.
Cost: Reduced plunger tip cost with cooling and monitoring enhancements.
Delivery: Accelerated LPDC housing delivery, reducing process time from 3 to 2 days.
Safety: Enhanced die-change safety with a protective bed.
Morale: Reduced fatigue by redesigning material movement trolleys.

The May 2024 5S competition also recognized best practices, awarding Inward Stores as the top department in the office area and Assembly as the leading department on the shop floor.

Through initiatives like the Kaizen and 5S competitions, RCPL continues to strengthen its commitment to fostering a culture of improvement, efficiency, and teamwork across all levels.
